Walk The Line returns to Shed 10 for NZFW 2026 on 22 August, bringing the spotlight back to Auckland’s CBD and showcasing the fresh talent shaping the future of New Zealand fashion. 

Our 2026 award categories are:

High Fashion

These designs are distinctive, glamorous, and fashion‑forward—pieces that feel equally at home on the red carpet as they do in a thoughtfully curated wardrobe. Spanning everything from formal suiting and refined daywear to striking evening looks, this section emphasises timeless investment pieces and showcases the full journey from considered concept through to polished execution. 

Streetwear

A fresh take on streetwear that blends trend‑driven design with relaxed, everyday style inspired by urban street aesthetics. This category celebrates individuality and originality, encouraging designers to express personal identity through bold, authentic garments.

Avant-Garde 

Make a bold statement with a design that steps beyond convention and commands attention. This category encourages fearless creativity, inviting designers to push boundaries and explore innovative, experimental ideas that challenge expectations.

Cultural Fashion

Designs that clearly reflect cultural inspiration, drawing meaning from traditions, symbols, and stories. This category encourages designers to weave these influences into garments that honour and represent one or more regions or heritages.

2026 Theme: Enchanted Earth

Enchanted Earth is inspired by the wonder of the natural world and the responsibility to protect it. Drawing on enchanted forests, hidden gardens, and earth born elements, this category celebrates creativity through designs featuring organic shapes, natural textures, and grounded colour palettes. Sustainability sits at its heart, with garments reworked, repurposed, or thoughtfully created to honour the whenua and reduce environmental impact. Enchanted Earth invites designers to imagine a future where fashion and nature exist in harmony—where creativity is rooted in care, and the next generation leads the way.
