Words from the Coordinator

Kia Ora,
My name is Roimata; I am of Maori descent and a die-hard GI local. I am the Youth Programme Coordinator for Raise Up Tamaki. I attended Pt England Primary, Tamaki Intermediate and Tamaki College. I have lived in Pt England for 27 years – don’t do the math, it gets embarrassing.
I have been with the Y on and off since 2008. I’ve worked in OSCAR programmes, I’ve taught swim, I’ve been a lifeguard, a kiwi sport coach and a receptionist.
Initially I applied for the role of Raise Up Tamaki Coordinator because it was a role I had never done. With a twist of the arm, I decided to give it a go. I have had more challenges in the months I have been here than the years I have worked for the Y; but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
I am now a Youth Worker in the community that helped mould me. I love Raise Up – you will too!

NZ Fashion Weekend slot for young designers

A collection of New Zealand’s youngest designers have an opportunity to present their work alongside industry leaders at NZ Fashion Week on 2 September.

Upper Hutt Update 2017

Upper Hutt has had a busy and eventful year making themselves known for there willingness to be an active part in their communities. They have had much going on over the year from Hackathon, where they were given the opportunity to pitch and present an idea to an event committee, members of the public and members of council. They were one of three selected and got the opportunity to see there idea of a 'house of horrors' come to life with the support of there community. Along with helping when needed and supporting local clean ups and building up the youth in there community. Congrats Upper Hutt on an awesome year!
